This thing is a tiny wound in history. If I bury it, that wound will heal.

Description:

I have brought a paraffin lamp, and a shovel. I place the one on a flat rock, and use the other to shift the black and sucking mud. The work is hard and it seeps back quickly. As I am about to place the Curio in the hole, I spy the corner of an iron lock-box. I unearth it, after a struggle. Curious. Perhaps the Beach-Crow has rewarded me; perhaps it's only a bizarre coincidence. I leave the Curio in the hole, as I had planned, just in case.
Ich habe eine Paraffinlampe und eine Schaufel mitgebracht. Ich stelle die eine auf einen flachen Stein und grabe mit der anderen im schwarzen, saugenden Schlamm. Es ist harte Arbeit und der Schlamm läuft schnell wieder zurück. Als ich gerade das Kuriosum in das Loch legen will, entdecke ich die Ecke einer eisernen Schatulle. Mit einiger Mühe fördere ich sie zutage. Kurios. Vielleicht hat mich die Strandkrähe belohnt. Vielleicht ist das alles nur ein bizarrer Zufall. Ich hinterlasse, wie geplant, das Kuriosum in dem Loch, nur für alle Fälle.
我带了煤油灯和铲子。把灯置于石头上，我用铲子产起黑色的泥浆。这活很吃力，而且黑泥回流得很快。就在刚要把古董放进泥坑的时候，我瞄见了一只铁盒子的一角。我把它挖了出来，花了不少力气。有意思。或许这是拾滩鸦对我的奖赏，又或许这只是个离奇的巧合。我把古董留在了坑里，就像计划的那样，以备不测。
При мне парафиновая лампа и лопата. Первую я ставлю на плоский камень, а второй принимаюсь откидывать черную, вязкую грязь. Работа нелёгкая, а грязь ещё и быстро ползёт на место. Собравшись было положить принесённую с собой вещь в выкопанную яму, я замечаю угол железного сейфа. После некоторых мучений его удаётся извлечь полностью. Возможно, это награда, посланная Вороном-с-Берега, а возможно, лишь совпадение. Но я всё же надёжно закапываю тот самый предмет в землю.
