Description:

In the forest where the moon couldn't go, the boughs of the trees were woven together like bandages or lovers. The moon might change herself to an ant or to a bird or to her sister, but the forest would not yield to her penetrations, no matter her caresses. One day we came with our scissors, and we severed the branches until the moon and the blood dappled the rotting leaves on the forest floor.
Im Wald, wo der Mond nicht durchdringen konnte, waren die Äste der Bäume miteinander verwoben wie Bandagen oder Verliebte. Der Mond könnte sich in eine Ameise verwandeln oder einen Vogel oder seine Schwester, doch der Wald würde seinem Drängen nicht nachgeben, wie sehr er ihn auch liebkoste. Eines Tages kamen wir mit unserer Schere und trennten die Äste ab, bis der Mond und das Blut die verwesenden Blätter auf dem Boden des Waldes befleckte.

Глубоко в лесу, куда не проникнуть луне, ветви деревьев сплетались плотно, словно пряжа в мотке или любовники в объятиях. Луна могла обернуться муравьём, птицей или своей сестрой, но лес всё равно не впускал её, как бы нежна она ни была. Однажды мы пришли с ножницами и обрезали ветви, и тогда прелая листва у корней увидела луну и кровь.
月の届かない森の中では、木の枝が包帯や恋人同士のように織り成されていた。月が自分の姿を蟻や鳥に変えたり、彼女の姉妹の姿に変えたりしても、いくら優しく触れられても、森は彼女の侵入を抵抗した。ある日、私たちは鋏を持って来て、月明かりと血が木の根元の腐った葉を彩るまで枝を切り落とした。
